A Village Called Porvenir

The original song “A Village Called Porvenir” was created by Brandi Tobar and Arlinda Valencia, with a music video produced and directed by El Paso musician Billy Townes. It gives musical voice to memory, loss, and the return of descendants.

Screenings and conversation

Community and festival screenings created spaces for descendants, filmmakers, scholars, and audiences to talk about Porvenir’s legacy. The original site’s screening photographs and captions are being prepared for this archive with their credits intact.
